Obesity hypoventilation syndrome and severe COVID-19

Abstract

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Obesity is a common cause to aggravate the severity of respiratory diseases which may place obese patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 at risk for pulmonary complications.
