I am 85-year-old female, a retired nurse, and have followed Dr. Perlmutter since his very first book.

In 2005 I needed a cardiac cath. In 2006 I was diagnosed with MGUS and in 2007 I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Temporal Arteritis. These experience were my awakening. It dawned on me there was something wrong with the way I was living, eating, etc. I studied the cause of inflammation and knew I must go completely gluten-free, so I did. Beyond that, I am also dairy-free and regularaly fill my system with prebiotics and probiotics. I monitor my blood sugar to experiment with what I can eat without raising my BS above the limits. In all these years, I have not had a recurrence of my cardiac problems, nor PM and TA, and I attribute this entirely to these changes.
