I’ve suffered with arthritis since age 16. To manage the pain, I would receive injections in my shoulders and knees to help manage the pain. Crying, I would wake up in the morning due to throbbing pains. In the years since, I’ve had 2 knee replacements and must start each day with Ibuprofen. I couldn’t walk without glucosamine/chondroitin.
I am now 60 years old. I was very overweight and my sister had invited me to talk to a nutritionist. I decided I would try it. When I arrived at his office, he asked me about my chronic health problems and dietary habits. Promptly, I was put on a sugar-free and gluten-free diet. In just two weeks, I lost 14lbs. Not only that, my knee pain disappeared and, frankly, I didn’t have any pain anywhere! I didn’t even make that latter realization until my doctor asked me if I noticed any “other benefits.” Once I got home I realized I had forgotten to take my pain relievers and glucosamine/chondroitin for several days.
Funnily enough, when I visited my nutritionist before my treatment started, he referred to my protruding stomach as a “wheat belly.”
Today, I’m still struggling with my weight and energy level, but the reduction in my pain alone has been life-changing and empowering. I’m so thankful for your research and devotion to helping us understand more about how our bodies work and what adversely affects it.
